Proofreading

Proofreading text in English is a specialist skill. It is said that it is impossible for anyone to proofread their own work. This is because the author’s eye might only see what it thinks has been written down, not what has actually been written down. The following is an example of actual written work for an essay in English literature. It is clear that it had not even been spell-checked.
